Cherry bowl

This bowl was orginally turned as part of my first lessons learning woodturning, then refinished several years later. The wood is supposedly from the orchards of Peter Heering, producers of Heering Cherry Liqueur

Bog oak bowl

Bowl carved from bog oak, given to me by some former colleagues.

Neither they nor I know the story behind it; the wood was purchased from a dealer.

Natural edge salad bowl

Salad bowl with natural edges. Made from unknown wood that I was gifted from a colleague.

Crotch bowl

"2-step" bowl cut from an unknown piece of wood, taken from a crotch in the tree.

Bowl with bark sides

Bowl with some of the original bark preserved.

This naturally causes the sides of the bowl to be a little thicker than normal. Unknown wood species given to me by a friend.

Thin-walled bowl

Turned while the wood was still not completely dry, which has made the bowl slightly warped

Small-ish box cut in Laburnum ("golden rain") wood, with finial made from American walnut. The laburum wood was donated to me by a woodturning instructor.

The piece of laburnum was given to me by an instructor. The smoked oak was bought from a wholesaler in Haslev, Denmark.

Bowl "Shou Sugi Ban"

This bowl was rough turned in the spring of 2023, and finished in August that same year. The outside is burned, emphasizing the grain structure of the wood.

"Medium" bowl in oak.

This is an example of a bowl that is first rough-turned while the wood is relatively wet, and then allowed to dry further for a few months.

The bowl is then finished. This process ensures that the shape of the bowl remains more stable than other bowls that are typically cut from (semi)wet wood.
