Artful Twister
Artful Twister is a free, browser-based wood-lathe
spindle-turning simulator. Design a turning visually, see it in 3D as
you go, then print 1:1 PDF or SVG templates to bring to the lathe.
What you can do
- Set up a cylindrical or square blank, choose dimensions and wood colour.
- Draw turning profiles with straight lines or smooth Bézier curves.
- Apply multiple profiles in sequence to build up a multi-step turning.
- Use off-axis mounting points for cabriole legs, eccentric pommels, or other multi-axis decorative work.
- Build the blank from layered (laminated) wood with per-layer colour.
- Drill an axial hole from the tailstock end for hollow forms — vases, lamp bases, candlesticks.
- Plan an inside-out segmented turning: turn the assembly outside, flip the segments, turn again.
- Export ready-to-print 1:1 PDFs and SVGs of every cut profile.
- Export STL meshes for previewing on a 3D printer.
- Save your designs to the cloud and share them with view or edit links.

It runs entirely in your browser — nothing to install, no accounts required to get started.
